Singer/songwriter Blair Gaudet has many passions.
If you can’t find him at The Tignish Seniors Home, fishing out on the water, gardening, playing hockey or golfing; you will most likely find him playing music somewhere, whether it is at the local bars or pubs, house parties or just at home working on his “tunes”, perfecting his harmonica playing, or just writing a new song.
Blair has had a passion for music from a very young age, following in his father’s footsteps with running benefit shows for people in need. From there he played in a rock Band “Blue Explosion” in the 1980’s and a country rock band, “140 Smooth Bore” in the 1990’s, who went on to produce an album.
Over the years he’s developed a love for writing. Gordon Lightfoot, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Neil Young and John Prine are some of his biggest influences aside from his Dad. He also values the music of Lenny Gallant from Rustico, PEI.
The inspiration for his songwriting can come from anything from his experiences Tuna fishing, meeting unique characters, his love for history, and stories from the elderly.
Blair had a big part in producing the “Bicentennial CD” for Tignish, and worked hard to make sure the history of the different types of music were included in this project.
He continues to do benefit shows, and volunteers his time playing for seniors, church and just generally helping out anyone who may come calling for a mic, music stand or help to set up gear.
You can be sure to hear music from the 70’s, 80’s, country, rock and folk when you are at a venue where Blair is playing, along with a few of his own songs.
